Pagosa Country offers a diverse experience, whether you’re looking to hit the backcountry and see few others during your trip or socializing and making new friends from around the world while you take in the area’s world-famous waters.
The area’s lodging opportunities are just as varied.
Some come to Pagosa Country to be as far away from the hustle and bustle as they can get. The area boasts a lot of public lands that, in addition to being a great place to recreate, offer a great way to spend a night taking in the area’s dark skies, bright stars and breathtaking views of the Milky Way.
The San Juan National Forest offers a variety of places to camp, both in established campgrounds and dispersed, with more information available at www.fs.usda.gov/sanjuan.
For those looking for a step up from camping, several campgrounds, lodgers and resorts offer RV spots. And there’s just as much variety there. If you’re looking for the comforts of home, but want to be more remote, there are spots nestled among the trees miles away from town. If you’re looking to be a little closer to the dining, entertainment, shopping and soaking in town, there are convenient spots (some still nestled among the pines) located near whatever you’re after.
Others offer secluded luxury cabins where you can sit with your morning coffee on the porch and take in the fresh air and mountain views while still being minutes from town.
For those looking to be closer to the pools, restaurants, shops and more but who don’t have an RV, there are still a variety of options. The main corridor of Pagosa boasts standard and upscale hotel rooms and suites, lodging domes, cabins, apartments, homes and more.
For those who want to feel what it’s like to live here, homes available to rent on a short-term basis are plentiful and varied throughout Archuleta County, from small spaces to large homes perfect for you and your extended family.
